Several sources are reporting that a QWERTY version of the MyTouch (HTC Magic) will be hitting T-Mobile’s shelves on May 17.
Purportedly called the MyTouch2 or MyTouch Slide, the phone is most concretely known by its HTC codename, Espresso. According to the device list in a leaked Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Hero, the Espresso offers the same specifications as the MyTouch, including a 320×480 display and a 528MHz Qualcomm ARM11 chip, but also offers a QWERTY keyboard as well.
According to reports, the keyboard to be included with the rumored MyTouch Slide is a “sidekick type keyboard,” referring to the T-Mobile Sidekick line of communicators. This presumably means that a QWERTY-enabled model will have a screen that slides upwards to reveal the keyboard, most likely in a fashion similar to the G1, if we had to place our bets.
