SanDisk to boost SSD writes by 100x

SanDisk to boost SSD writes by 100x

Using a technology that dubbed “ExtremeFFS” (flash file system), SanDisk claims that it is set to improve SSD write performance by 100 fold.

The technology is a new file system that will address data in pages rather than by its physical location on the drive. This paradigmatic shift will allow for data to be managed and accessed in larger chunks that are more natural for the design of an SSD.

SanDisk hopes that this, the SSD-friendly Windows 7, and the adoption of other new standards will finally make SSDs ready for the prime time.

edcentric Now can they lower the power consumption so that it isn't HIGHER than a 5,400 rpm HDD?
