Shattered Horizon grows up today as it is crowned the winner of the DIYgamer.com Indie Tournament that has been running since April.
The list of contenders was steep—games vying for the top spot included Trine, Braid, Torchlight, World of Goo, Defense Grid, Beat Hazard, and Sexy Hiking.
During the whole process Futuremark Community Manager FM_kingkatt always made sure to keep the Shattered Horizon community rallied and ready for the next set of voting. Things were looking rather bleak when they were matched up against Torchlight—however, they pulled it off and advanced to the finals against Dwarf Fortress. The one thing no one figured out was that Dwarves can’t swim, much less build a fortress in space. Futuremark’s Shattered Horizon destroyed it in the finals with 85% of the total votes.
