SilverStone TJ09 Case Review

SilverStone TJ09 Case Review

Performance Results

Without further ado, here are the results. For more information on how we tested and our hardware configuration, please refer to the ‘Testing Methodology’ section.

With the system sitting idle, a pretty significant temperature decrease in favor of the TJ09 is evident. Most significant is the 8°C drop in the memory VRM area with the default fan configuration and 11°C with a fully loaded fan configuration. The mid-mounted GPU fan is definitely functional, shaving off 6°C at idle. Even the PSU temperature dropped by 6°C. Only the hard drive was about a degree warmer without additional fans in the TJ09. Considering it is passively cooled in the default configuration, I was expecting a much higher temperature. With the hard drive fan installed between the cages, we see a 3°C drop in favor of the TJ09.

The improvements are even greater at load. The ventilation in the TJ09 is far superior to that of our reference case. An amazing 11°C drop in GPU temperature was realized with the system at full load. The memory VRM area dropped a more impressive 19°C with all fans operating in the TJ09–very impressive.

To be perfectly honest, I was not expecting the TJ09 to do as well as it did. I never thought such an impressive thermal improvement could be realized with a case upgrade. Any serious PC enthusiast or overclocker will not be disappointed.

Excellent work, SilverStone!
