Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Dawnguard DLC

Bethesda yesterday announced the upcoming first DLC for their bestselling, first-person role-playing game, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The announcement consists of this image, a release window—Summer—and a promise that more information will be available at E3.

‘Dawnguard’ is not something familiar from the Elder Scrolls lore, so we only really know that it will involve some new, probably militaristic, organization—perhaps similar to The Blades.

We do have a bit of a clue from a recent update to the game which added some files and terms to the game in a folder called ‘DLC01’. The possible additions include the phrases “Snow Elves” and “Snow Elf Prince” and some animations for what looks like a crossbow, leading some to believe that the new DLC will contain a new race of people and a new type of weapon, at least, but this has not been confirmed by Bethesda.

GHoosdum The snow elves aren't a new race, rather, they're the antecedents of the Falmer: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Snow_Elf

CB Oh right! I remember reading an in-game book about that. It made me wonder why I don't need a black gem to take their souls. (I also wonder that about the giants).

midga Really tall people don't have souls. Neither do molemen.
