We haven’t seen Sniper Elite since 2005, when the stealth third/first person sniping game took some surprising awards. So it was with a bit of surprise today when I found out 505 Games is making Sniper Elite V2. Here’s the trailer:
The graphics are a bit dated, but then again, Sniper Elite was more about the difficulty of making the shot than the graphics.
Sniper Elite is really all about the shot. Wind, distance, bullet drop, breathing, the bullet, the gun—these are all things a real sniper has to deal with that generally never make it into video games.
Sniper Elite V2 follows in the footsteps of the first game: A WW2 setting and you’re on the Allies side. The third-person parts involve stealth and patience as well as booby-trapping possible escape routes and choosing the ideal sniping location for the shot.
No word on release date, price, or platforms yet. The press release also mentioned “multi-player” but said no information is available.
