The Sony XPERIA X2, one of the more advanced Windows Mobile-based smartphones, has been delayed until Q1 2010 due to bugs.
“Over the last couple of weeks there has been a few, OK more than a few rumours that the X2 is going to be delayed until January and I’m sure it will not come as a surprise when we say that these are well founded,” said XPERIA X2 Product Manager Aaron Duke. “The software worked fine but when we started integrating it with some of the network specific apps it threw up a few issues which we’re working to fix.”
Duke continued by saying that the fixes being applied are minor–battery life improvements and Ux fluidity–but confirmed that the product was being delayed to remedy the bugs before shipping, rather than later through constant firmware upgrades.
The XPERIA X2 is a tri-band UMTS device compatible with AT&T’s network. It features an 800×480 3.2″ resistive (stylus) display, a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM 7200 processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 110MB storage, an 8mp camera and Windows Mobile 6.5
