Spy-based RPG Alpha Protocol gets a new trailer

Do you remember those childhood days reading “Choose Your Own Adventure” books? Each and every page could lead you towards the final battle, find the treasure, or save the girl. Often you ended up dying, failing the mission, getting lost, or whatever other counterproductive ending the author could craft. I loved them until I learned to flip between the different choices looking for the correct choice. Sega and Obsidian’s upcoming spy thriller has taken the “Choose Your Own Adventure book and brought it to an RPG-style game with Alpha Protocol.

Alpha Protocol allows for your character, Agent Michael Thorton, to tailor his responses based on the situation at hand through a new interaction system.  As the scene unfolds, the new “Dynamic Dialogue System” (DDS) pops up with two to four options and a timer to force you to choose quickly.

As Agent Thorton interrogates an informant you could start with being a “good cop”.  When the informant starts being difficult switch to “bad cop” by getting rough—but maybe that will make him clam up instead of giving you the info you desire… choices abound.

Alpha Protocol is set to be released on June 1, 2010 on PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 for between $49.99 and $59.99.  You can dive deeper into the background of the game by visiting Alpha Protocol
