Custom USB memory stick

In the world of AAA video game titles, rabid fans often shell out big bucks for coveted Collector’s Editions, which often contain many pack-in extras and bonus content. Blizzard today announced the pack-ins for their game that is sure to be a massive commercial success, Starcraft II.

The extras include an exclusive art book, flash drive, soundtrack, behind-the-scenes DVD, and more. According to the press release:

  • The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
  • An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor’s dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War® expansion set
  • A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director’s commentary, and more
  • The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks
  • StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series
  • A World of Warcraft® mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account
  • Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit

The collector’s edition commands a $40 premium over the $59.99 suggested retail price. While no release date has been announced yet, Blizzard claims the news will be revealed “in the coming weeks.”

Winfrey Hopefully Blizzard includes a hot fix in the Starcraft and Broodwar install so that the graphics are not all messed up. Maybe take a step further than Command and Conquer: the first decade, did.

Also, pretty please with sugar on top make the in-game cinematics available without having to play through the game.

Pretty cool package of stuff, though quite expensive. This could be a good birthday + Christmas gift.

coldalarm I'm quite interested in this, but for the price it seems a bit... I'm not sure. It seems very expensive.
I think this is one CE I'll probably pass on due to the price; I'm not an overly huge RTS fan, I have the original SC games anyway, and the standard edition will be expensive enough as it is.

pigflipper Sigh. Blizzard is going to once again force me to part with a larger than expected sum of my money.
