Not content with Sony’s commanding presence in the 3D stereoscopic market, Microsoft is taking steps to push the technology on the Xbox 360 by announcing a strategic partnership with HDTV manufacturer LG Electronics. The partnership, announced to help promote 3D gaming on the Xbox 360, is exclusive to South Korea.
The Korean press release can be read on LG’s Flickr page, translated to English by the wonder of Google. There are pictures of the launch event, which include a photo of Microsoft VP Alan Bowman playing James Cameron’s AVATAR: The Game in 3D alongside LG Electronic’s marketing strategist.
The new partnership will begin coupling new LG 55/47LX9500 LED TV sets with Xbox 360 3D-capable video games. The marketing initiative will launch in June of this year. Despite being limited to South Korea for now, this partnership is yet another indication that set manufacturers and gaming platforms are eager to get on board the stereoscopic train.
