Thermaltake announces Level 10 GT performance gaming case

Thermaltake has released the Level 10 GT today.  The new full-tower case is the successor to the original Level 10 case, a design collaboration between Thermaltake and BMW Group DesignworksUSA.

First shown at CES 2011, the Level 10 GT brings numerous improvements over its predecessor.  Notable features include

  • Cable management—not content to simply hide cables, Thermaltake designed the interior of the Level 10 GT to separate cables and channel them through grooves on the back of the case.  SATA power cables are custom designed for the 3.5″ bays to eliminate the typical mess involved with SATA drives in close quarters.
  • Convertible top-vent—The top panel can house either a 200mm exhaust fan or a 120mm or 240mm water cooling radiator.
  • Hinged side-panel door—allows easy access to system internals.  In addition, the side-mounted 200mm intake fan’s power connector automatically disconnects and reconnects without user intervention.
  • Ports—Two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA port,
  • Massive (but quiet) airflow—Three 200mm fans, and a 140mm fan.  All of the 200mm fans have LED “ColorShift” lighting which can be controlled (both speed and color) through a panel on top of the case.  Fan speed control allows users to increase the fan speed during gaming or lower it during less intensive tasks.  Removable, washable filters help to keep system components free of dust.

Perhaps the biggest improvement over the original Level 10 is the GT’s $269 MSRP.  The original Level 10 currently sells for $800 on Newegg.  While the GT’s price tag doesn’t put it anywhere close to most budgets, it’s still a gigantic step in the right direction.  The Thermaltake Level 10 GT is available immediately from Newegg, TigerDirect, Fry’s, and MicroCenter, and will be made available to other retailers as soon as production allows.

BuddyJ Do they charge extra for the rainbow?

Garg If it's that much cheaper, did they skimp on the materials? It looks a little more plasticy.

I think the rainbow was more a demonstration of the colors the LED fans can produce.

The case felt pretty solid. I never did get to try the original Level 10, but the GT didn't feel flimsy or cheaply built at all. I suspect the price difference may have been the result of not having to pay BMW's designers (though I have no evidence to support this).

Garg Now that I've seen the other angles, I feel it's a pretty lame replacement for the original. The individual legs look like plastic (and replace the slick flat metal base of the original), and the "modularness" has been toned down greatly. Now it's just small boxes protruding from a big box.

It's a fine case, but the price reflects the % of cachet kept from the original.
