Twitter reduces spam to 1%

Evil spam is way down!

Twitter announced on its blog yesterday that it had effectively reduced spam on Twitter to 1% of all daily tweets.

Twitter defines spam as posting links to harmful phishing or malware sites, posting duplicate tweets, and aggressively following and un-following accounts, along with other behavior. Twitter says that by working with its engineering team it has reduced spam from as high as 11% last August to 1% now.

To help Twitter reduce their spam even further, remember to hit “Report for spam” on any tweets that look suspicious. Users can also tweet to @spam on twitter about any questions or queries about potential spammers.

Bandrik I'm with Cliff on this one. It does get a bit annoying to be constantly followed by people who say things like "Father, husband, guru of all web social marketing - let me help you shine!" and so on. Maybe there's really a whole lot of lofty people out there. Maybe.

    But it's still annoying.
