Twitter announced on its blog yesterday that it had effectively reduced spam on Twitter to 1% of all daily tweets.
Twitter defines spam as posting links to harmful phishing or malware sites, posting duplicate tweets, and aggressively following and un-following accounts, along with other behavior. Twitter says that by working with its engineering team it has reduced spam from as high as 11% last August to 1% now.
To help Twitter reduce their spam even further, remember to hit “Report for spam” on any tweets that look suspicious. Users can also tweet to @spam on twitter about any questions or queries about potential spammers.
