MySpace wannabe MocoSpace recently polled 20,000 of their 10.3 million users in conducting a survey on mobile etiquette. One question asked if users had ever used their cell phones to break up with someone, and a stunning 57% said yes, with 48% doing it by text message.
The survey also revealed that one third of MocoSpace users flirted with someone else using their cell phone while on a date, and 79% of users said that the recession had not impacted their romantic life.
90% of the respondents said that after looking at pictures, the information in MocoSpace’s “about me” section was the most important factor in determining whether or not to connect with another member. Further, over half of MocoSpace’s members did not yet have dates for Valentine’s Day (probably because they got dumped for sexting while out with their Valentine), but 80% of them didn’t really care.
While the figures uncovered in MocoSpace’s survey seem absurd, the social networking site does allege that the majority of its users are under 30, so perhaps they’re more accurate than we want to believe.
