MTV will shut down its digital music service, URGE, and join with Real and Verizon to promote Real’s Rhapsody service, which will now be jointly owned with MTV. The new service will be led by MTV’s URGE exec, Michael Bloom.
I’m sure I don’t need to say this, but it’s quite simply a move to improve their ability to compete with Apple’s iTunes.
