Wired reports on a blog posting by the former co-founder of Tesla Motors, the US startup working on the first full-electric sports car. In the posting, Eberhard discusses mass layoffs and firings in the small company, which has been slow to release its overdue Tesla Roadster.
The Roadster is cited to have 0-60 performance better than a Ferrari with comparable handling. Powered only by batteries, the Roadster would have a 200-250 mile range for the cost of 2-3 gallons of gasoline.
Perhaps Tesla is getting serious about releasing the Roadster, which has been long overdue for a 100-person waiting list of future owners that have already paid over US$100,000 for the first run of vehicles? Or the project isn’t going as well as planned…
