This week, Nexon America launched a new website to feature the upcoming game Vindictus. The game is said to be “the first physics-based multiplayer online action role-playing game.”
Say what?
Nexon reports that the game’s physics will play heavily into all of the action. As the Vindictus website describes it,
“Blood spurts from enemies, right where your twin blades sliced. Enemies fall, only to become corpses you can hoist and brandish as sadistic weapons. Watch as walls crumble and whole buildings topple, providing you with new toys on the battlefield.”
Vindictus will add destructible environments to the Source engine’s physics and includes game mechanics such as cooperative party play and advanced item crafting.
The game is set for release in late 2010.
Nexon is normally known for their increasingly complex browser-based games such as Maple Story, Combat Arms, and Dungeon Fighter Online. Whether this game will break the mold set by their previous entries remains to be seen.
For more information, including a video and the game’s plot, visit the Vindictus website.
