Vista appears to be more secure than XP

Say what you will about Vista, but it appears to be more secure than its predecessor. A security blog has taken a look at the risk profile of Vista and compared it against XP; fortunately for Vista, the results are in its favor. The PDF is ~800K, and is worth a look if enterprise security is part of your daily routine.

24 Jan 2008 ~ 3:32pm Jelly-Bean Vista is more secure you are right there. The vista SP1 has been released but some are complaining there PC is running slower with the install of the SP1. I do not own Vista but had a chance to use my nieces Vista home premium computer just before xmas. It has 2 GIG of RAM. To be honest unlike XP, it seemed very slow to boot to logon screen as my XP boots in seconds.However once running it looks good and seems to run very well. Vista at this moment is unhackable. Vista is one PC and one PC only. It has to be activated online, once activated if you try to install on a second pc with same key Microsoft distroys ya OS. The screen becomes like your graphic card is broken and the screen will apear two shades of grey and a splash of ****ty green. The problem is then the computer goes in a spiral and asks you to log onto the origonal xp and when you do it shuts down. Then you cannot just install the origonal XP on your HDD. This then means removing the HDD and adding it as an external or slave drive and formatting it to a storage drive. Then replacing into origonal pc and reinstalling XP. Also there was no trouble installing limewire but they have been unable to install lets say bittorrent. It plays havoc with the pc or Vista will not allow it to be installed.
As Vista also requires 512 of RAM just to run I am looking at building a computer in the future and may install Vista but I belive to get any decent speed I would install at least 4 GIG RAM.
Would love to hear other peoples opinions and wich Vista they are running or concidering in buying.Thanx.
24 Jan 2008 ~ 3:37pm Thrax Everything that you said is pretty much untrue, to be perfectly blunt. Vista is hackable, it's been hacked and cracked for the better part of a year, installing two copies just reports that the key is already in use and is not genuine (on the second PC). Bittorrent works fine, etc. etc.

wow.. I had like 13 PC's on the same license, just to check it out... nothing ever happened outside of 13 PC's running Vista perfectly fine.

No OS is uncrackable/unhackable. Not yet and most likely never.
25 Jan 2008 ~ 8:47am Jelly-Bean MMMM,I said my neice had problems with trying to install bittorent,I did not say anyone or everyone who tried to install bittorent had problems.Vista IS MORE SECURE THAN XP.Microsoft is working on Vista still it should not of been released so soon.Ok.I also asked about how people who are running vista are happy with it,a few niggles with the programm,do they find it good,have they tried a few diffrent vista versions, etc etc.What are peoples opinions.As I am a computer builder and not so much into the software other peoples opinions would be much appreciated.
25 Jan 2008 ~ 9:22am primesuspect I think you are using the word "security" in the wrong sense.

Technet is saying that out of the box, a standard Vista install is more secure from remote exploits than XP. This has nothing to do with piratability, they're talking about how easy it is for a remote attacker to get into a box running a certain OS.
