Vista snubbed for Beijing Olympics

Vista snubbed for Beijing Olympics

In a relatively unsurprising maneuver, the steering committee for the Beijing Olympic Games has decided to use Windows XP for all critical aspects of the game’s computerized operation. The infrastructure: Servers, score-keeping, game management and more will all be done within the XP family. Only the notebooks and desktops for the Olympians and in the various lounges will be plodding along with Vista.

Here be drama.

IndigoRed A couple of thoughts. I would think M$ would be pushing Vista even to the point of offering free consultation to get it working to the organisers satisfaction. Underhandedly, they could refuse to sell XP licenses. So where did the organisers come up with that many licenses? Or did they?
  2. Thrax
Thrax Lenovo is supplying all the PCs. Licenses for XP are still readily available at the OEM level, you just have to request it, and Microsoft would be stupid to decine a contract of Beijing's size.
