Vote for the finalists in Last Gadget Standing at CES 2010

featureThis is your chance to be heard! 25 gadgets are competing for the top spot of Last Gadget Standing at CES 2010, and the people’s voices count.

Head on over to the Last Gadget Standing voting page to cast your 25 ballots. You can vote early—and vote often—for your favorites to win.

As for which candidates we support? Icrontic is behind the Microvision Showwx Laser Pico Projector, the OCZ Agility EX SSD, and the Motorola Droid. Each of these devices represents either a paradigm shift in the way things are done, or a major new market segment.

When I covered the Showwx, I was excited not as much by the tech as I was by the potential new uses for such a crazy little device. Impromptu movie viewings at the airport terminal? No problem. Bored at a coffee shop? Project a movie onto the ceiling. Pranks? Endless.

The OCZ Agility SSD, while certainly not the first SSD, represents SSDs as a whole for the competition—and as all good computer enthusiasts know, the SSD is the death of the mechanical hard drive. SSDs are finally coming of age, and have hit the magic alchemy of performance, reliability, capacity, and affordability.

The Motorola Droid represents the maturation of the Android platform as a serious contender to the entrenched iPhone userbase. People are beginning to realize all of the limitations that Apple’s closed eco-system presents and are no longer content to just buy into whatever Apple is pushing on them. The Droid is a major leap forward for competition, and that benefits everyone.

Icrontic will be covering Last Gadget Standing on January 9th, 2010 in Las Vegas. Don’t forget to vote!
