WB aquires Snowblind

snowblindWarner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a division of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, announced today that it has purchased Snowblind Studios, best known for producing Fantasy action games like Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, and Champions of Norrath.

Warner Bros. will be keeping the entire studio intact, and allow them to continue to follow their own creative process in their work for the major publisher. “This is a good fit for Warner Bros. and Snowblind Studios,” said Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Pres. Kevin Tsujihara. “The arrangement broadens our portfolio with quality games and provides Snowblind with access to our global distribution and publishing capabilities. Snowblind has a great reputation and we are pleased to welcome them into the Warner Bros. family.”

Snowblind had previously worked with Warner Bros. on Justice League Heroes, which was poorly received. However, this past failure doesn’t seem to daunt the Snowblind team. “We look forward to working as a part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on creating several distinctive games with wide appeal,” said Studio Head Ryan Geithman. “Our team is committed at every level to making the best gaming experience possible for our audiences.”

Khaos Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and the follow-up were great fun on the Praystation 2. I hope they work on more isometric RPG-Action hybrids. I had an absolutely blast playing through those games with a friend back in 2004-ish in co-op mode.

CB I did to. CrazyJoe came over to my apartment every Sunday night for a while, so that we could get through them together. Snowblind only made the first one, however.
