Windows 7 != MinWin

Windows 7 != MinWin

Much has been said about the next edition of Windows, code-named Windows 7, particularly after Eric Traut’s MinWin demonstration. Piggy-backing on the MinWin hype has come rampant speculation about what will and will not be included in Microsoft’s 2009 or 2010 release. Most of the speculation, as is typical, is photoshopped or merges into the white-noise of the everybody’s-an-analyst internet.

Yesterday, ars put its foot down and goes for the jugular to point out what has been said that’s untrue, and what has been said that is true about the features of Microsoft’s next OS. Topics include touch sensitivity, virtualization and sandboxing.

Yay, buzzwords!

    mmonnin Nothing is going to stop you from doing it. Its not like XP has a timer and will format c: itself after a certain year. :D

    Qeldroma I waited for Windows XP with anticipation- even more than Windows 95
    I greeted Windows Vista with mixed feelings- and view it as an unnecessary hassle right now.
    Today I find myself greeting the news of Windows 7 with trepidation.

    Will it be Vista SE or ... Vista ME?
