Hulu announced that as of 9am PT this morning, Hulu Plus users with Xbox 360 consoles will be able to access the service through Xbox Live.
When you turn on your Xbox later today, you’ll see the news that Hulu Plus is now available. It has been available for PS3 owners for some time, and it was widely believed that Sony had an exclusivity contract with Hulu, as there would be little other reason to delay the release of the software for owners of the Microsoft gaming console—telling them all the while that the service was “coming soon”. It’s likely not a coincidence then, that after over a week of no connectivity to the PlayStation Network, the service has suddenly become available elsewhere.
Neither Hulu nor Sony have commented on the possibility that the downtime on Sony’s network has breached their contract with Hulu (perhaps someone should take down the Apple data network for a week or so—maybe Android users would finally get Hulu Plus for their devices!)
There is no word as to what will happen when the PSN servers go back online, so be aware that it might not be a permanent service going forward.
Those who do not have a Hulu plus membership, but want to try it out on their Xbox 360 can get a one week trial here.
