World of Warcraft Cataclysm beta opt-in has begun

The World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion promises to create quite a stir in the Warcraft community, both for new and old players. Besides introducing two new playable races (Worgen for the Alliance and Goblins for the Horde), it will remake the old world significantly, add new zones, and allow flight in previously un-flyable areas.

Today Blizzard announced that they are ready to start looking for public beta testers, but you must associate your game with a Battle.net login, run a system check application, and then specifically opt-in to the beta in your account profile.

Cataclysm will be released sometime in 2010.

  5. Myrmidon
Myrmidon Wait, the news that "The beta opt-in has begun today" was released in 2009? You mean they started selecting beta testers in 2009 and I could have jumped this bandwagon sooner?

    I didn't think so.

    /facepalm
