World of Warcraft: Cataclysm pre-orders have begun

Eleven million people can’t be wrong—well, maybe a little wrong—but at any rate, Blizzard’s amazingly popular World of Warcraft is set for the next expansion: Cataclysm. Pre-orders have begun at Amazon.

In Cataclysm, the world is rent asunder by events after the rise of Arthas as the Lich King, and it looks as if Blizzard is aiming to not only re-invigorate the game for experienced players, but make the game even more inviting to new players. Two new playable races (Worgen for the Alliance and Goblins for the Horde), a higher level cap (85), and a new starting zone, among other things, are all slated for the late 2010 release.

The Icrontic WoW guild on Tortheldrin is stronger than ever, and is set to begin raiding 10-man content. This may be a good time to level a character to 80 (For the Horde!) and get it on the Cataclysm goodness with a great group.

Tim I'm hoping Elwynn Forest and Westfall don't get changed much, they are nice places to go and just look at the scenery and listen to the music, especially in Westfall.

But we'll be able to use our flying mounts in Azeroth and Kalimdor finally!

timuchan I put my pre-order in at Gamestop last week (I'm a regular at the one near work and always have good conversations with the manager). I just started playing 2 fridays ago - dinged 32 last night thanks to the Recruit a Friend bonus xp. ^__^

    timuchan Oh, and.....

    FOR THE HORDE!

lmorchard Now, if only they made it free to hop between servers. I got lots of alts, but only one to 80, and he's a Troll Mage over on Maelstrom named Paytol.

But, Cataclysm might just suck me back in for the new content. End-game grind usually bores me to the point of quitting though.

MAGIC Why would you pre-order a game that doesn't even have a release date, or in general for that matter? You are giving Gamestop a loan with 0% interest. I have yet to see a game released that walmart and or BB did not have on the shelves the day 1.

Tim I don't get the whole pre-order thing either. You're not going to get it any faster than people who line up at the Game Stop on release day with cash in pocket. I was in line like that at midnight for the WoTLK expansion.
  7. MAGIC
MAGIC Just order it a couple days before release on Amazon. It ships and arrives the day its released.

Sledgehammer70 It's WoW.. they will have more than enough copies to go around on day one. The only reason to pre-order is if you're willing to pay for the Pre-order bonus (if they have one) or if your trying to snag a collectors edition.
  9. chrisWhite
chrisWhite I might give WoW a second go after Cataclysm hits, I've been reading such good things about the improvements in gameplay and narrative in WoTLK and if those improvements get applied elsewhere it might be something I'd get into again. I think I hit level 50 first time around back before Burning Crusade.
  10. tacos! if they do end up with a pre-order bonus i might...
but otherwise no. and BTW its FOR THE ALLIANCE!!!
