Yar, it be… Anti-Piracy Day?

Microsoft has announced a  “Global Anti-Piracy Day” in an effort to draw attention to those who profit from pirated software.  Microsoft is highlighting its efforts in 49 countries, from the US to Pakistan.  Microsoft claims that illegal copies of XP are on the rise and will continue to climb as retailers pull the software form their shelves. (Hmm, maybe they shouldn’t can XP?)

They’re keelhaulin’ some piracy by using Windows Genuine Advantage, which is designed to make it harder to copy Microsoft’s products.  Some could argue that these steps are a result of tougher engineering, the lackluster response to Vista, or not enough grog.
