setup questions

edited March 2004 in Hardware
I am getting some new parts for my system and was wondering what kind of performance i can expect.i got it without the intent of overclocking and i am hoping to be able to run the newest games i.e. farcry,hl2(hopefully sometime in the future). i got the parts with overclocking in mind but i would like to avoid it at least in the near future.

amd xp 2600
asus a7n8x-e deluxe
hercules radeon 9800np (sammy 3.3)
corsair xms pc2700
w.d. caviar 80 gb hd 8mb cache

If you haven't ordered them already, I'd get a NF7-S instead. If/when you overclock, it will do better than the A7N8X.

Which 2600? The barton or the tbred?

Not to worry. You'll have fine, fast system. Overclocking is really more of a hobby than a tool for significant improvement. (Yes, I overclock; but's it's for the fun, not for the performance.)

The last thing i overclocked was an athlon 550 got it to 700 since then i've been pretty fortunate that i always had money at the right time to get the right stuff
