It's running off of Google servers... the ones that return millions of results in a fraction of a second. How slow could it possibly get?? I will do screen shots tomorrow... or maybe I'll submit an article on gmail for the front page if the topic hasn't been killed by now
Yay! Go Keebs! I've been wondering my balls off what Gmail is gonna look like ... tho chances are the good ones will be all gone and i'll have to revert to using my graduation year again lol
You only get 3 invitations to use after you've sent/received a certain number of e-mails so all mine are taken or spoken for in this batch. I don't know if they will continue to give me more or not...
im shooting for thebaron @ gmail.com , though if i had to guess i'm probably already screwed. i could really use a large webmail acct at this point too
I would be interested in getting one of these accounts, but as I said before, I'm not worried about doing it quickly... When will the accounts be op[en to the public?
Or is this the way they plan on doing it perpetually?
so...trickle down theory eh?????? spread the wealth gentlemen......
as others have mention about their usernames, I can never get camman@whatever (unless its on my own domains), usually i gotta get like camman209210918@something.com
I can see now you all are never going to let this die Did I say invitations? I meant... uh... it's totally random. There is a machine somewhere with everyone's e-mail address and it spits some out every once in a while... yeah.
I have no idea when they'll do "general release" but I assume it'll be after their beta testing is done and there are at least 3 more major features they list as yet-to-be-completed in their update e-mail you get when you sign up.
I did a quick browse around and although I didn't read everything there was a lot of reference to advertising. Is advertising going to be the cost of having a gmail account?

Gmail will basically read your email for keywords and I think it'll insert a ad with those keywords. I don't know if the ad is in the actual email or the inbox page. They have some privacy lawsuits about it but it's just searching for words and not really snooping around in your email. Same as the bots do here in the forums.

I haven't been able to get thraxATanything.com it on any public email service in about.. oh.. 8 years.
Especially the ones named Vicodin.
(subtle hint subtle hint)
Fold on.
Vic, I made sure the admins had it so maybe trickle-down theory will sort it out
