I tried my hand at taking a few macro shots of some chocolate. mmm... chocolate. shwaip let me borrow his macro tubes and his flash - both of which I had never used before. This is a close up of a truffle dusted with sugar. I had actually thought it might be salt when I was looking at it with my eyes, but apparently with cool macro shots I could actually see the sugar crystals!
I feel really out of my league posting in this thread since I'm still very new to photography, and I've already seen some absolutely stunning photos by a lot of people so far in this thread. Here are a few photos I feel might be worthy to be posted.
This was taken on a very windy day as you can see.
This is my friend's cat. I liked the way his eyes came out as a jadeish green color. Pretty funny expression as well.
Hi all! I'm still learning how to use my first-ever DSLR camera, so not sure how artistic my stuff is. I just tend to shoot everything and whatever I like in the end is what I keep.
Still, since I'm new, thought it might be fun to add a few of my recent photos. I'm local to Walt Disney World, and an annual passholder, so I take a lot of pictures there.
I'm just using a basic Nikon D40 with a stock 18-55mm lens. I finally ordered a polarizing filter and lens hood a couple of days ago since I'm wanting to shoot the upcoming Flower festival at Epcot, and I seem to wind up with white or pale blue skies a lot.
Spaceship Earth at Epcot (aka "the golfball")
Statue of Walt & Mickey in front of Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, FL
Pete's Dragon in Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade, Magic Kingdom, WDW, FL
Excellent night shot - those can be a major pain.
Wife and I are also hoping to catch the Flower event at Epcot and play more with our cameras, just keeping fingers crossed my favorite old sigma lens will hold out through the trip (the AF just doesn't work anymore and the inner mechanics are getting a bit wobbly).
The CP filter is a great tool, but I haven't had my camera out in enough light to really use it.
Like the Morel Mushroom.
Everyone thinks my family is weird for eating those, but those things are so good.
BTW nice pics... Im still learning with my Rebel Xsi (450D). Wish I had the money to upgrade.
But maybe ill contribute to this topic in the near future.
This past weekend we got our bees for our new beehive. We have been wanting to build a beehive for while, mostly my dads idea. For our own honey and wax. And also to help out with the decline in honey bees.
So Saturay we put the bees in the hive, and I pulled out the camera and shot this one with Reverse lens macro. (EF-S 18-55mm in reverse)
And last night I got bored, really bored. And decided to do this.
Milk and food coloring. It was my first time trying to catch droplets like that. I don't have an off-camera flash. So it made it a little more difficult.
Made it a little more awesome. I always like seeing other people take sweet photos, because while I envision cool things for painting or photography, making them come out like they look in my head is rarely possible

It seems like thats always how it goes.... I always imagine results that never come out like that.... But im learning..... and I found myself another hobby:D
Here is a couple shots that I took today in between breaks of our rainstorm.

pics from our trip to leavenworth!
And finished with the Prague photos.
Overall, a better vacation than my pictures show. More are here, if you like.

These are great, particularly the lighthouse.

Dickens Village. The converter lets you get right on top of small items.

This is cut from the center of a bigger pic. Lens remains pretty sharp at the center, even with the converter.

Ah Fishbones. You can see some vignetting at the edges, since the threads on the converter are 28mm and stepped up to the cameras 37mm filter ring.
Enjoy!
