    It will probably refuse to run. The GeForce2 may be faster, but the GeForce4 has rendering paths that the GF2 doesn't.

    Thx, that's what I wanted to know, besides de speed thing...
    bye!

    I was just wondering how my computer faired in 3D Mark 03. So, I closed all non essential programs and shutdown my network connection. I downloaded new drivers for my eVGA.com Geforce fx 5600 and used Rivatuner to overclock it from 325mhz/500mhz to 352mhz/559mhz. I still can only get a score of 2761. That number seems pretty low to me compared to other numbers i've seen. I also only got 671 CPUMarks on 3D Mark 03 build 340. I have no idea how my cpu score fares compared to other people.
    My system is
    Intel P4 3.0C ghz 800mhz fsb on a Intel D865GBF mobo
    1024mb Samsung PC-3200 dual channel (2x512mb)
    Western Digital 180gb 8mb cache 7200rpm
    eVGA.com Geforce FX 5600
    Creative SB Live!
    Windows XP Pro SP1

    any input as to how my score fares (esp my CPU score because I know my video card isn't all that great). Hopefully I can win a 6800GT on the eVGA.com scavenger hunt. Thanx

    do you have aa or af enabled

    looking at the results from futermark you are higher then most of the people that have the 5600 fx card
  • edited July 2004
    aa=anti aliasing?
    if so, then no, it is set to none

    and what is af?

    read what edit? still no idea what af is? sorry if im annoying. but i looked on futuremarks forums and someone said the fx5600 is pretty worthless. Guess its time to upgrade to something better

    AF = Anisotropic Filtering

    and yea the 5600 gets only about 2500 to 2600 maz in 3dmark 2k3
  • edited July 2004
    ok, i see now. Texture filtering is set to optimal and below it it says max ansiotrophy =4. Should i change filtering to bilinear or trilinear or should I leave it at optimal and change the max ansiotrophy (it can go down to 1). Or should I just leave it where it is. Also, gibbonsl, i cant really afford a 6800 or a x800, so what would be a good cheaper card that is still better than my pos.

    as for the setting i am not sure on what is a good setting for the fx cards

    someone that has experiance in that area might chime in.

    looks like you are doing pretty good with what you have to work with

    the higest i say on furermark was 2590 for your card and cpu

    yeah, i pumped up the o/c on my videocard to 360/570mhz. Downloaded new chipset drivers and bios for my mobo. Increased the AGP aperature size from 64mb to 256mb, and what did i get? 2888 3dmarks 380 cpumarks. up from 2761/671. Thats pathetic. I will breach the 3000 mark

    Hi, guys, I just installed Doom3 on my XP2600+@1917Mhz, 512MB DDR400, 120GB WD drive, GF2 GTS 64 MB DDR and guess what...IT DOES RUN, at least at the "high perf" setting. It's not incredibly fast, but it isn't slow either...
    So, guys with this kind of card can still go for it...
    I still don't know HOW THE HELL to play the thing, but at least, it works.
    Best regards, everyone.
    Me.

    It will run - the GC will force you to run low detail, though.
  • edited September 2004
    is it because of the graphics card? what would you recommend? radeon 9800 or GeForce 6600 GT?

    6600GT will perform better :)

    The 9800 is a generation behind.
