I sorta know how to do this with software we can't afford, and I'm trying to figure out a more practical way to do it... anyway, I was thinking it'd be cool to have a map of the host locations for the SMx rigs, and you could click on the dot for the rig and it would bring up its specs, stats, and history.
That'd be sweet. It'd be nice to show that people all over the globe (well, at least the northwestern quarter of it) are participating in the program in the same place that we show the specs and such.
If we've lost the map (I forgot who was caretaker), then I could make another one if someone gave me a list of locations (preferably of at least postal code precision, wouldn't need addresses).

You might talk to Kwitko - he was doing the map a while back.
Shwaip - I really enjoyed the SMx stats page you had before. I agree with the comments about the colors, but that is not a complaint.
Being a Baseball fan, I naturally feel that the more stats the better.
I know Keebs was working on a Team 93 Stats Page. Maybe you guys can share some ideas.
Yeah...I was just messing around with javascript to get the display to work. That's just the parsed/formatted file that I download from stanford. The team # is an artifact from an old way I did it, a long time ago .
Points per week/day/whatever and the history will show up some time next week...got a couple more finals left before break .

I've been having a hell of a time getting MapPoint to work again, and I've been unable to find a suitable mapping program since. However, I still do have the popup code I used on the map.
I've got a thousand and one things going on, so I'm trying to prioritize, but it all seems to go out the window at every turn.
I use ArcGIS at work, so if you're too busy right now I could whip a map up real quick. That popup code you used worked really well, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to adapt it to a new map graphic. I took a look at the code, and it seems fairly straightforward (so if you're busy, I could work on that too).
currently, it looks like the following will in the stats:
A table of the number of points, per day, turned in this week
A table of the number of wus, per day, turned in this week
A table of the number of points, per day, turned in last week
A table of the number of wus, per day, turned in last week
A table of the number of points, per week, over the last 5 weeks
A table of the number of wus, per week, over the last 5 weeks.
The last two haven't really been implemented yet, so if you want more history, that's easily done. Suggestions can still be made for the first 4, but if you want something exotic, you had your chance.
Those are tables of the point and wu output per day for the smx machines. The zeros before the 26th are because the database had no info for those days. The big numbers on the 26th are because that's the first I put in the database. The zeros after the 28th are because the day hasn't happened yet.
Is it too late to add a weekly and/or monthly average column? It would make it much easier to spot a machine that's lollygagging that way. With 600-Point WU's out some of the slower rigs are going to take a week or more to finish as it is.
prof - nope...that's next on the list, along with a homepage that makes things easier to navigate/understand. It really wouldn't mean that much at the very beginning, as there wouldn't be enough history, so I started with points/day.

Ok...time for another question...when I scroll with one of the tables on the screen, it uses massive cpu and basically, the scrolling is way too slow. Would you guys & gals like to have:
a) A bunch of seperate pages, each with one stats chart on the page
b) Some sort of menu system that allowed you to see only the chart(s) you wanted on a page (slightly similar to the way you can choose what forum groups you want to expand on the short-media forums)
c) other. suggest something.
indeed.
Also - my screen resolution is rather large (1400 x 1050). How do the charts look at other resolutions?
Wow, that scrolling lag is weird. It shouldn't be a problem if there is only one table per page though (I didn't need to scroll until I shrunk down my window).
I just want to get people's input now...rather than having someone say, three months from now, after I've forgotten all the code/etc..."It'd be really cool if....all the stats were on one page." or "It'd be really cool if....you could make the individual tables scroll"
I added a "total" row so that we can see the total output of all the machines. The WU table is a little messed up, but that will be fixed @ 11:55 EST (hopefully ).
Comments
What do you guys think of this style page?

Right now, it only displays the latest update.
Gargoyle - We had that map of all the folding users a while back...we may still have it. It could probably be adapted to just the SMx machines.

keep up the great work man

Suggestions for a color scheme would be nice
My only (very minor) complaint would be that I hate to use the scroll wheel unless it's absolutely necessary. :o
Why not adopt something built around the S-M site colors?
yea no scroll would be a nice plus.
love the effort man, greatly appreciated
I echo prof and fc about the scrolling. - EDIT - Saw you already made the change.
I also agree using S-M colors.
OT a little but just wondering....how does a single SMx achieve 1849 points in a single day?
Poor ol SM23 waiting for a mobo transplant is dead last at 78 points/day. :bawling:
I think you're looking at the WU table...and since that was the first info in the database, the stats think that all that was done in one day.
:o
I also made the colors more short-medialike.

At 1280X1024 it looks fine. Leave room at the bottom of the table - we might have some new rigs soon.
But hey, whatever works. Any SMx Stats would sure beat none at all.
