I need a converter to read a laptop HD in a regular PC.

I found one on pccables.com and the resellerrating (resellerratings.com) was 10, but there were only a few responses. Anyone here dealt with (or know someone that has) pccables.com?

Also, it's $11.49 with shipping . . . know of any place the might have it a bit cheaper?

The Fry's here in CA have them; I'd imagine the ones in TX do too...

Hmmmm. I really hate giving Fry's money ever since that "super smart" employee of theirs called me stupid because I overclock.

Maybe CompUSA will have it, but I'm sure if they do it will be $30 as all the little items at CompUSA are jacked up like 10 what they're worth!

search "notebook hard drive" (w/o the quotes) on pricewatch. there are a bunch of results that come up; the entire first page has nothing but 2.5"->3.5" ide adapters and usb enclosures for 2.5" drives...

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!

Purchased a cable from PCCABLES.COM, and it fried my 40 GB laptop hard drive (first time I used it). I called the owner, "Jay", and told him about the problem. He claimed no responsiblity for the problem and even hung up on me!!!

I called him back and he agreed to refund my money (for the cable, not the drive). He was VERY rude about it. He said that I'm not allowed to buy anything from them again.

DON'T WORRY, JAY... YOU CAN BE SURE THAT I WON'T. Just remember, what goes around comes around.

Nonsense. This thread is pretty well dead and pointless, but one bad experience doesn't mean anything. Most likely it wasn't that cable. I bought 3 or 4 ethernet cables from them (since they're dirt cheap) and they're flawless.

Granted, it wasn't a hard drive cable, much less a laptop HDD conversion cable, but still.

Thanks for trying to discredit me when you know very little about my experience. I've been in the computer industry for 20 years, and it's how I make my living. I know that what caused my problem was a bad adapter. Period.

Ethernet cables are different, they carry very little voltage and even a faulty ethernet cable will not damage electronic equipment.

I disagree... I think that one REALLY bad experience does mean something, especially if the bad experience is with the owner of the company. I'm also a business owner, and the owner of PCCABLES.COM spoke to me in a very unprofessional manner (and even hung up on me).... something that I would never do to one of my own customers!

Alright, enough. One member says 'bad'; another says 'good'. Points made. Let's leave it at that, OK?
