That's right folks. Thanks to our man, Abbas, i'm able to check out the cheapest and slowest of new A64 chips. I can tell you that it's an Intel killer. Look at this screenshot, look at the speed :D It's a first page score and we're just warming up :D
.
.
It's (a) r9800 Pro 128mb at 520/390 using plain water. So far our best with Intel at 4100mhz at r9800 Pro at 533/390 is 24747, so go figure :D

that is one hell of a score.

In the Quake 3 timedemo they managed to get over 500 fps :D

    I cant wait

Well, I have lots of money building up shortly over the next little while, and I think I know where it is going to go, but I dont think I want to spend over £300 so I am still going to have to wait :(

What speed is the 64 3200+ by default?

Alright. Now I need to beat 24,200! Let me just get my LN2 cooling system out, and my exotic gold LN2-blocks and my...

    :sad2:

    :bawling:

Well. It was good to be on top of this world for atleast a month. Ah well. I love AMD for slaughtering my score with a slower chip, but I hate them for slaughtering me so badly. Goddamn. +6200 points, -200MHz, -15MHz FSB...

I can officially say we have all been owned.

I cant WAIT to see the Socket 940 Athlon 64 in action after the 23rd.

NO! Godd**n motherf**king b**tard killed my score! THAT'S IT! I'M DRIVING TO THE COMPUTER STORE RIGHT NOW AND BUYING AN SK8N, A 256MB 9800, AND AN OPTERON 148! MUAHAHAHAHA! ;D;D

I'd be interested to see the score with a stock 9700 pro, so I could compare it to my scores with an un-overclocked system...

You won't be getting anywhere near that score with an SK8N in your system. It wouldn't even touch OUR score, Geeky.

The K8 Crush chipset needs another revision, and damn fast. The SK8N hasn't even hit full retail production because there are some major bugs. Kinda like...It's 40% slower than the AMD8000...

I know... but what board did he use then? (I just realized it's a S754 as opposed to S940  )

Maybe it's time for a P4 3.2 and a prometia system and a 9800 pro 256 and 2GB of DDR4200 and and and I must beat that score! :bawling:

Er, with a prometia system you can clock in at about 3.2GHz on a DLT3C AXP. You wouldn't need the p4.

Thrax, Geeky1: Don't get too bent out of shape, even though the CPU kicks tremendous bootay, the card used was clocked MUCH higher than either of yours (especially Thrax's) so it isn't like the CPU was making all the difference itself.

Even so. The 80MHz gain he had on me for the core frequency of the card is only worth 900 points at best. I've found that 10MHz = ~100 points. The other 5100 was chip.

    //EDIT:

I also noticed the chip did 2.4GHz at 1.5V!!!

    Thrax, 2.4 @ 1.5 isn't all that impressive- both of my 2500s will do 2.2 @ default (1.6 or 1.65...) and the 1800 DLT3C does 2.3 @ 1.5... getting it to 2.5GHz on the other hand, takes 1.93v...

It was 180MHz he had on you and 50MHz memory!

    10MHz ~= 100 after how many MHz?
Clearly not for all MHz otherwise your 342MHz would only yield 3,400 points.

The chip made a difference, no doubt, but I think the card made up close to (if not more than) 50% of the difference.

I think it is pretty impressive, considering a few things:

    1. Higher IPC
    2. Brand new core, so there's not years of refinement behind it like there is with the K7*
    3. 2.4GHz @ 1.5V = less heat = potentially more GHz!

    * Yes, I know the K8 is very similar to the K7, but so much has been changed too that all the refinement that went into the K7 cannot just be carried over to the K8. Just think of what a better optimized core will bring, especially one on a 90-nanometer process.

I recently got up to 18,255 on a 360MHz video core.

So I misread the page. Heh. We all do that.

However, in terms of GPU overclocking above stock speeds, 10MHz = 100 points. I've seen it on 3 different video cards, and probably 60-100MHz on every card. So he's got 160MHz on me, that means 1600 points. Bah.

Memory means very little, perhaps 20MHz = 100 points. So let's call it +1800 points for video.

4200 points from chip alone. Still red hot.
