Lotsa Memory

Is there a big reason why this program uses something like 100MB of my memory? I amat 192MB used when on, but if I turn it off my memory hits a mere 75 or so.

    Strange,

Looking on my machines here, I am only using 4mb for the core on one and 7mb for the core on another. Have a look to see how much memory the fahcore*.exe is using.

You see... this is how it ALWAYS is. Even after reformats and stuff, mys ystem runs good at a mere 60 to 70MB. But when I put F@H on, and I must say again, I have reformatted manytimes and it happens just like this each time... it bumps up from anywhere to 160 to 190MB.

    See Pic.

What about the core. How much memory does that use?

You are using the graphical client. Try using the console. It only uses 312kb.

I just got the console and set it up successfully as a service. But I still am running much more memory than what it should. I am at just under 140MB

    FAH3Console - 3,200 K
    FahCore_78 - 25,500 K

if that is what it shows then that is what it's using and nothing more. 60 to 70 is without IE open and msn messenger and the two avgXXXX.exe or what?

F@H is using about 20MB on mine (3MB for the Client and 17MB for the core).

That is strange, all my machines average 103MB used. I'll take a look at them when I get off work.

I think if you are using XP it takes less memory. There was a discussion back on Icrontic when I was on ME and I was using a lot more memory than others on XP. So I think the OS has something to do with it.

    My 2k setup just folding.

RWB: your picture totals 88,964 kb but the graph displays 140/160MB?

There's a tab that shows virt. mem file size, that you have to enable the view in TaskMan:

    View-->Select Columns-->Virtual Memory Size

For comparison purposes, for myself it shows a total of 33MB in that view, as opposed to 26.5 under mem usage.

    Something is indeed strange there.

On my Intel system the FAH core under graphical is using 5.560; console core (running as service) is at 5.564. On the AMD system the core under the graphical client is using 18.xxx.

    Dual Xeon 1.7ghz
    Client 1 - Core using 29mb
    Client 2 - Core using 25mb

    Celery Laptop 2ghz
    Client 1 - Core using 12.8mb

I think it depends on the WU as to how much the core uses.
