I just had a look at Dabs.com The MX700 is £47. Guess I'll stick with my explorers for now.

    bothered.

Savastore.com have it marginally cheeper @ £45.83 and thier delivery costs to the mainland are smaller than dabs afaik, but they're among a minority of sites than charge in excess of an additional £10 to ship outside the UK mainland :(:( eg N. Ireland

Future Shop wants $105.00 CDN for the MX700. I don't care how ****ing good the mouse may be, there are serious issues when a mouse costs more than a damned hard disk.

The MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 provides enough resolution for you to play games more accurately than any ball mouse that I know of (save the Razor Boomslang) and is less expensive than the MX700.

I've got an MX500 on my secondary system (the wired version) and prefer the contoured feeling of the Explorer 3.0 and its larger front/back buttons. I won't be replacing it anytime soon.

I've got an IE 3 already, but I was looking at the MX because I couldn't find the USB-PS/2 adapter that came with the IE and I needed one for my KVM switch. After digging around in some drawers, I finally found one.

Normally, I'd just go out and buy the mouse, especially now @ the end of summer when I normally have a ton of cash. But this summer I spent it as I went so I'm going to try to make ~$600 last until next summer... oh well, at least the comps. won't need anything until then, and I'll be able to get better stuff this time next year anyhow (especially since I'll be going to college... should be able to talk my parents into a graduation present... :D)

So, since I found the adapter, and I'm happy with the IE, for right now, I'm sticking with it. However, thanks for the info... my next mouse will probably be a MX500/700, unless something better comes out in the meantime...

now one thing I know, is I can never own a cordless mouse. I can promise you I would lose it. So that leaves the MX500 and the IE3.0. Wouldn't the MX500 be better than the 700 because there is no radio intereference?

I should never have read this post... I just dropped 36 bucks for the MX500... I'm going to demote the Intellimouse Explorer to my secondary PC and the GE Optical mouse I had on that to my PC at work... but I'm STILL out 36 bucks more now! :banghead:

The bugs i had from my experience with IE-Wireless versions go as follows.
-When installing bluetooth it took 4 installs, 2 uninstalls, and 2 reformats to get it working.
-When the batteries on the IE-wireless (non-bluetooth) died out I replaced them, yet the mouse would not recognize. I tried various other mice, from usb logitechs to ps2 ball mice, none worked.. A reformat later everything seemed a-ok.
-The installations varied on my desktop and laptop. The laptop being easy, plug and play-esque, and the desktop being a pain in the ass, BLUE TOOTH BEING A FRICKING PLAGUE!
RBF: I was talking about the cordless IE3's. The corded version lasted me a long time, yet it still was a little skippy and not nearly as smooth as my mx700.

I have had both the IE 3.0 and this MX500, and i must say that i LOVE this mx500, definitly worth the money. In my opinion the 500/700s are the BEST mice on the market atm. It fits my hand perfect, is sooo smooth and responsive.... and you just can NOT make the thing freak out if you move it REALLY fast... i havent gotten it to yet.

you can see only a difference from the logitech mx mices to the micro**** explorer mices if you work on hi-res documents f.exmpl. in photoshop or macromedia flash. so if you wanna see a "real" difference so try to work out with both mices a document starting on a 1200 dpi size you will see that the logitech mouse will rule in every way.

    best regards

My mate uses a MX700 on a Ratpadz and to be honest, I prefer my IntelliMouse Optical (1.0A) to it. Mainly because of the buttons, and the accuracy didn't seem any better.

The MX700 is a nice mouse but I prefer the shape of the intellimouse. I use the MX because I can set all the buttons for what I want and no cord to break.

If anybody wants to retire their old optical mice - any brand, please send them to your stallwart buddy Leo; he'll make great use of them at his office where he is stuck with klutzy OEM ball mice!

PM me for an address for shipping!

Microsoft Optical-- 3" move hand to get from bottom of screen to top. MX700-- 1.2" move, same screen, top to bottom, MAXIMUM, I have my MX700 slowed down. Hypertuned Ferrari (sp?) versus normal Benz or even Volkswagen. Easiest way to summarize difference....

The MX500 and MX700 are fast, with three times the accuracy, you can slow them down with the Logitech mouseware and get real fine movement precision on a real good monitor also. Basicly, they are like a hyperfast CAD drawing mouse in movement density, and almost as exactly precise. You can move them at a tiny crawl and get precise moves. Mouse gestures in Opera are tiny and instant response. the logitechs also work in Linux, no special drivers, and mine is attached to my main box, the Linux box, right now. I had to tell KDE to run at slowest mouse settings, and it is still faster than the Optical microsoft thing used for teh XP\Barton box with the optical accellerated.

John-- with a few word pictures..... :D

    My old $0.02

I used the MX700 once at a lan party and it was a bit uncomfortable cause of the size. It was damn big. Now I'm using a Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 and I love it. More comfortable than my older mouse and the batteries last over a month.

For what it's worth, I noticed a huge difference both in performance and ergonomics with my MX700. It feels better in my hand, has more buttons, and has drastically better and more accurate tracking on my Everglide GIGANTA. I have a MS Natural Keyboard Pro, because I've never found another keyboard that feels so right. This mouse is the same way. It's definitely the best I've ever used in any application. The cordless and how flawless it works is just icing on the cake.

well i have to say that i have the mx500 , the 700mx series are wireless and i cant use them because i work sometimes 10 hours non stop a day with a mouse, that would be impossible for me to wait till the mouse is charged again. and i tested the microsoft mice also , i mean i have to say that the ergonomic and the handling of the mouse is realy not bad, that means not that the handling of the mx mice is not also so brilliant, but thats all, in case of the performance i see miles between the two mices , logitech mx series are in the same price structure like the intelli-mices and you get realy more for your bugs!

The mouse has a 24-hour non-stop use charge. Drop it in the cradle when you sleep and it'll be fully charged for another 24 hours of use in 1/3 the time it takes you to rest.

Unless you never sleep, the charge isn't an issue whatsoever.
