This thread reminded me I needed to check my service level...There's a new cable modem on its way because apparently I should be getting about 300Mbps. While my current one is capable of that speed, Cox recommends a 16 channel modem for anything over 150Mbps service.
From Netflix, runs off the Netflix servers. Makes it harder for the cable companies to prioritize traffic to Ookla. (Theoretically, Ookla and fast.com should match, if you're not being throttled / prioritized)

They're reporting 230Mbps, so I'd say that's a pretty good indicator of non-shadiness.
Found out that they installed their own 100% entirely unnecessary router in between the fiber node and our internal network. I yanked it out and plugged directly into the pipe.

It's amazing what a new run of cable (because the neighbor's asshole dog chews on everything), and a call to level 2 tech support gets...

Not too bad for my new GS7 Edge on Verizon.

It's a wonder what competition will do.
U-verse no less. I wish they would put that in up here, been their customer for 20 years.
You can probably get it right around the time Google starts talking about deploying fiber to your city!
Results from this project:
I got this amusing result this morning.
Looks like a clear case of the accelerator virus. You should definitely start that scan. Might save your life.
Before change. (Possibly changing cable provider from UVerse bundle to DirectTV)
New laptop at work, on wired connection (X1 Yoga w/i7):
Slight upgrade to 150/20. Comcast sure does love to over-provision.

Verizon MiFi (May not be fast, but a huge upgrade from dial-up).
Huh. I've never seen upload speeds 2X as high as download speeds. Cool.
My FiOS upgrade just upgraded.
