Friends, techies & geeks alike... RE: The MediaMan
Hi folks,
It is with great sadness that today we lose one third of the Short-Media owners. Doug "MediaMan" Kronlund has retired as an owner of this little site that could.
The reasons behind it Il leave him to explain but it is amicable (before anyone starts assuming the worst)
Doug has been here since the beginning. When Icrontic was dying, we emailed constant files, hoping there was something there we could salvage to rebuild the site we all loved but there was nothing left. Hours turned into nights trying to make things work. Instead of giving up, Doug, Brian & myself forged a partnership that became the catalyst for Short-Media, we built it from nothing & lost weeks of sleep trying to make it into something
Short-Media wouldn't be where it is today without his drive, enthuiasm and high standards of work. Doug has given this site his all and Brian & I thank him completely for everything he has done. This site is his legacy & something I hope he will stay very proud of.
For me personally, I am glad that I've have such a supportive & articulate friend and coding mentor over the years. He always pushed me past the limit I thought I had, only to find it wasn't really my limit at all.
Im certainly hoping he will be able to find the time to pop in, post, drop a few PM's & continue to watch the site grow. Don't be a stranger mate!
So one & all, please raise your glass, cup, mug or pitcher and wish THE MediaMan all the success in whatever he does next ( probably tiling the bathroom ), his management input & creative vision will be missed but his impact will stay with the site for it's lifetime
Thank you Doug!

Using google we visited sites left right and centre. Even posted a message on a very large site in Australia. After a few days keeping an eye on the thread, we still had 0 replies.
It was then i came across Short-Media. My explanation of this site to Sally was:"It's like comparing a big city to a country town. In the city with all it's people, no-one wants to know you. In the country town, everybody is friendly and helpful."
We posted one message at Short-Media and were flooded with replies. The good feeling we had about this site was almost an understatement. It's way better than that. It is filled with good people, lots of knowledge and it's fair share of humour.
This site certainly could not have been the work of one person. Reading threads in the forum confirmed this. The input from these is what has made Short-Media what it is....The Best site on the Net. Of course things would not be the same without it's members. They are the ones that also make Short-Media what it is today.
I would like to thank MediaMan, Shorty and Prime for putting in the effort that was the foundation of Short-Media.
We hereby would like to thank Doug "MediaMan" for all his time and effort and wish him all the best with his newly found spare time.
Jon and Sally
Thanks for everything you have done!
Doug, I just hope there is nothing serious underlying your decision to step down. Thanks to you and Prime and Shorty for rescuing Icrontic, but also for a subtle change that has increased the camaradie in all areas of this site.
If you're just taking a rest then put your feet up and have a beer, you deserve it. If you're moving on to a new project, then the very best of luck with that. If none of the above, then jolly good luck with whatever you do.
Thanks Mate

I am just a small portio0n/person in this site, and want to help in making this site grow... But I can't help but feel as an important part of the site, as how many cool guys and Gals I have been able to become friends with. I join TEAM 93 almost instantly and have found a nitch were I didn't think there was one. Short Media is my home away from home. Thanks again Doug for all you have done, and this site will always be here when you want to drop a line...
I have not spoken to you in person nor over the phone, but I can almost hear you when I browse the S-M everyday. The three of you have made this my first stop every morning and my second, and third, and fourth... Heck, during the week, I'm one several times just to talk and be a part of this GREAT community.
I have been blessed with being a part of S-M and you, Doug, are a great reason for that. We will not forget you or the impact you have made in our lives. Please, stop in from time to time and say hi. Until next we meet, -Q
Never did manage to get you to submit a WU for good ol' 93 after all these years though. :shakehead :bawling:
Dave aka Hawk.
Good luck best wishes.
We'll do our best to make you proud of what you built here with Prime and Shorty.
On this chaotic sea that is the Internet, we'll do our darndest to keep S-M the safe haven of knowledge, humor, and camaraderie that you guys created.
Sincerely,
Fred
Prime, Shorty,
I'd like to step up and offer my assistance in any way I can.
I've been wondering why I don't see you in the forums but whatever your decisions are in the future, good luck
Good luck with whatever the future holds for you.
Best of luck my friend. You know we will always be here
One side note: now that you are retiring from this site, I guess Prime's going to want his name in the site title. I can just hear it now; "Shorty, how about Short-Suspect?"
Damit Mud, you beat me to the Short-Suspect title.
First Johnny Carson now Media Man. Darn!
