"550 #5.1.0 Address Rejected" help pls? Thunderbird

"550 #5.1.0 Address rejected."

i'm using thunderbird and it will let me check my mail fine, but when i try to send something i get this... suggestions?? my mail is charter, the pop server is mail.charter.net, (for both incoming and outgoing mail) my address is corey@charter.net ... what the hell lol ...

does anyone know how i can fix this??

    outgoing should be smtp not pop.

    right but i mean charter told me i can use the same address (mail.charter.net) for smtp also. so under smtp i have mail.charter.net

    "mail.charter.net" should work

    Is authentication required for outgoing mail? Some servers require it.

    Charter requires authentication for the outgoing (smtp) server.

    ok, does anyone know how i can set it up to do that? if charter requires authentication, what do i need to do in thunderbird?
