My system has the following spec:-

3.06 ghz processor
P4
512mb RAM

    Welcome to Short-Media.....

Have you patched the game to 1.02? or even 1.01? These fix a ton of issues that both low end and high end PC's were having.

You can get both patches here!

Instead of finding out just head over to nvidia.com and DL the newest driver for your graphics card.

    http://www.nvidia.com

click on downloads and follow the rest :)

Ok tried this and the same thing occurs. Quick tutorial does not work - throws me back to windows. Skirmish gets 97% complete on loading and throws me out! The actual game plays the opening scenes but then crashes!

Any further ideas?!? My PC spec is defo capable of handling this so baffles me as to what is up!

Okay I am an Idiot~! I just noticed you said MX 440.... that card is not supported by the game... even says so on the box. your going to need a new AGP graphics card. You can pick up a cheap one and you wioll probably see better performanc ethat what you have now.

Like a Nvidia Geforce 5500 AGP is like $45.00 at www.newegg.com
or a better card like at 6600AGP is like $89.00
or if you want to go top of the line you can jump into a 7 series card starting at $299.00 for a 7800GS

I'm having the exact same problem with crashing after the real-time battle screen loads up to 97%. I have an Intel 82865G graphics controller. Am I also in need of a newer/better card? Any help would be much appreciated.

yes you need a graphics card. Your onboard Video will not support the game.

I figured as much. Thanks for your time.

I saw the list of video cards but I don't know which are PCI which is what I need for my motherboard. Is there any PCI card that will run BFME2 decently?

    Thanks

The 5500 will run it at low, but other than that you would need a Mobo upgrade.

Also BFME2 runs fine on 1 GB of Ram.

    Thank you, Sledge.

Hopefully I won't waste your time with a redundant reply.

My system has a 512 MB memory card along with the original 256, but it's a cheap Dell with integrated video on the mobo. There are available PCI slots for an upgrade, I'm just looking for one that will improve the graphics and run BFME2. I'm able to run BFME1 but have trouble with Star Wars because it says I need the TnL on the graphics card.

I read a post about the Radeon 9250 being one of the best PCI cards and it is listed on Page 1 as being capable of running BFME2 at low levels. But EAgames doesn't list it as one that supports the game. Also, it's a directX8.1 not a DX9.

Is the 5500 an NVIDIA? I'm unfamiliar with that one. Do you think I'd have better luck with an nvidia or the ati radeon?

Thank you again for the wisdom.

aggiestatboy you said you are running a dell with onboard graphics right..
If you decide a Ati or Nvidia GC it would be a huge improvement over onboard.
There are not that many onboard video systems out there that would run a graphical intense game such as BFME2..I also believe that BF2 has support for fx 5500 cards so i very sure that BFME2 would look great and has great performance on the Nvidia 5500..

    Good Luck!

SoLo, you're exactly right. The dell integrated graphics has done pretty well running just about everything up until now. I'm sure my entry level machine is much slower redering than with a GC also. But now that I have BFME2 and can't run it, it's time to upgrade the graphics. Honestly, I never knew how easy it was or I would have done it a long long time ago.

Star wars won't run well either because it wants TNL so I'm sure to have a much better machine after getting a graphics card in it.

After doing a little research, it looks like the nvidia FX5500 actually is a directX9.0, unlike the Radeon 9250 (only DX8.1). So I'm thinking the FX5500 will do the trick for games like BFME2 and BF2.

Does anyone think I'm making the wrong choice?

    THanks!!!

The 5500 should run just as good if not better than the 9250, and yes the 500 is an Nvidia card, I run a few of them in medoa center pc's

being that you are comming from onboard graphics the FX5500 is going to be a POWER HOUSE in comparison..

that Nvidia card should take care of ya unless you try to play a game like Ghost Recon AWF (cough!)

Im sure you will be more than satisfied with the fx5500.just remember that later on if you start to try to play other intence games that are being released that a fx5500 is very low end.

I currently have a Albatron 6800gt series Nvidia card and i am having some problems getting the performance out of a few games out there so ill be upgrading soon too.7800 here i come :) Cya

    Just a note!

You should be able to pick one up for $40 - $60 bucks... a 5500 that is :)
