Is Zone Alarm Slowing Down my Browsers?

Ever since I installed Zone Alarm Firefox and IE load so slow. I do not have many programs on my start up list.
How can I make it faster again?

This slow start-up is getting on my nerves.

    Zone Alarm will slow down your connection. I've experienced this many times over the years. You have to remember that it is a firewall and that it is scanning your connection and every bit of data that comes across everytime you go to a different webpage or IP address.

    Why don't you use the firewall in Windows?

    I figured it has something to do with that. But I was hoping I could do something about it. All in the name of safety I guess.

    I have both firewalls on....lol
    Not that I know if it really makes a difference using both at the same time.

    Can't be too safe in this World(wide web).

    There is no need for two. Zone Alarm out-trumps Windows so I would turn Windows off. That may give you some speed back as they could be bouncing data back and fourth.

    jradmin has a point.. Most 3rd party firewall vendors recommend that you only use one or the other. Let us know if that makes a difference :thumbup

    Besides slowing down the system, having two firewalls on at the same time can very well cause conflicts.

    I stopped Windows Firewall, but the green light is still on.
    Maybe when I boot it again it will be red.

    I hope it makes it faster. = )

    I have a question for you guys.

    I am running SpywareBlaster, Zone Alarm, and Avast. I want to know if this is too much?

    What is your input?

    Not at all. SpywareBlaster is not memory resident, so it won't bog you system down. ZoneAlarm is good because it monitors outgoing as well as incoming threats, and Avast is a nice AV, and going without an AV is just plain sillycrazynuts.
