Apple Sucks

As you know, since the HDD in my new comp is being RMA'd, I had to connect my iPod to my old computer to charge, and I forgot iTunes erases all the songs the first time I connected it. So since all my songs got erased anyway, I thought I'd do a quick iPod update and used the new iTunes to update to the latest firmware. As soon as the iPod rebooted from the new firmware install, it said that 1.5 GB of it was full, so I did a "restore iPod" and it restored and did everything it was supposed to. Then, as soon as it rebooted, it asked me what language I wanted. It should enter disk mode as soon as it reboots properly, but I tried 10-15 times by turning it off and back on, selecting a language, unplugging the USB and replugging it, etc, but it just won't enter disk mode, and my PC won't recognize it. I'm trying to install RockBox, but I can't format it to FAT32 until something recognizes it, and I tried to manually enter diskmode by holding Select and Play/Pause at boot up but that doesn't work either. Any ideas?

oh how i loathe apple
FYI, there are two packages available on Apple website. One of them does not have iTunes integrated (QuickTimeInstaller.exe). If you do not want to download a new package, you can open the iTunes integrated package (ITunesSetup.exe) in 7Zip and extract Quicktime.msi to install Quicktime alone.
The real annoying part with Quicktime installation is to remove tray icon and quicklaunch icon, and also disable automatic updates and qttask.exe at startup after the installation.
