I am looking for an Athlon XP processor. A friend of mines burnt up so I gave him my pentium 3@600 rig for now. but its hardly even close to what the Axp system was. Does anyone have a processor for cheap? He has very little money.

I don't have a spare AthlonXP right now, but I do have a spare Duron 1300. It's a Morgan core, based off the Palomino core Athlon XPs. It's a good chip, but only overclocks a little bit (I think I got it up to 1400).

If you're interested, I'd sell it for $12 shipped parcel post, or $15 priority mail. I'll guarantee that it works - if it doesn't, send it back and I'll refund the money.

Here is a list of Supported Processors for his motherboard. Right now he has a Athlon XP 1700, I'll ask him if he'll take the duron though. As its better than the P3. Basically any Palomino core based XP up to 2100 is what I'm looking for.

Gargoyle, thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind, but he is dead set on an athlon for now. But if I come up empty handed I may hit you up.

I'll see him tonight at scouts. I'll find out what he says, though he'd be a fool to say no.

I'm happy we've boosted Airbornflight in his friend's eyes, but the thread decorum needs some. Gentlemen, in the future please do your negotiating in private. The seller is required to state a price in his thread, but all subsequent price offers and negotiations thereof by other parties don't belong in thread.

Apart from, another good deal transpires in the Deal Depot & Trading Post!

This is something I've always wondered about, and other people are apparently unclear on, so I thought I'd ask here:

Airborn wanted an Athlon XP in general. Surely he can't give a single price for a range of processors from 1500+ to 2100+, and it would be kind of strange to list out a price for each processor individually. I for one would really appreciate it if our explicit price rule was relaxed for "WTB"s where the eventual item that will be bought isn't known at the start.

Of course, if he had said "I need a 1700+ Palomino core, Retail," then having a price listed would make sense.

I see a nice compromise as being that the buyer, in this kind of situation only, wouldn't have to specify a price in the post. In that scenario, the potential sellers do all their negotiating through PMs, and only post in the thread to indicate that they have something and the buyer should check their PMs. I can live with that, but it would be a bummer to miss out on knowing what things sell for, since it's useful to see what the going rate is on items.

I will be working on the rules to make it clearer. Don't sweat it guys, everyone around is still cool. My fault - rules need to be clearer (oh, I said that already...)

The buyer/requester should state a ballpark price if he has upward limits on what he will pay. Prospective sellers can then contact the buyer with their specific price offers. By all means, there is nothing wrong with replying in the thread with what is available for the buyer. It's just that as soon as price is mentioned it becomes negotiation.

Please feel to PM me or post right here here any suggestions - general or specific, that you think would better enable smooth trades but yet retain the efficient nature of the Deal Depot & Trading Post.
