    Why do you want to take away voltage? It uses 12V right?

    I'm interested in installing a very powerful 120mm (very l o u d) case fan. Sometimes noisy high air volume fans shorted for lower voltage will still put out high volume with little noise.

    what Leo said...if 7v mod is not pushin enough air, another option is the 9v mod, both lower the dBA but still move good air flow.
