Week ago my HP Pavilion 434.uk didnt shut down to good, and surprise surprise I got the killer \windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupt page. :sad2:
Before I am shot down for starting a new thread i thought i would convey my searches and findings with your brethern.
(1) F10 to system recovery, loops and displays said page :sad2:
(2) F8 advanced, all loop and as above :sad2:
(3) How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545 can find specified file -system :sad2:
(4) How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm no good :sad2:
(5) Cannot Start Windows XP if the System or Software Hive Is Missing or Damaged (Q303012) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_sys32.htm no good same as b4 :sad2:
(6) Contact with HP Support, telling me to F10! and that was that http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1199987140470+28353475&threadId=1191204 :sad2:
(7) Came across this site with this page http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp Repairing Windows XP in Eight Commands which I was able to fully complete ok until the said page appeared
(8) Read all of the respective pages concerning problem http://icrontic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24057
(9) Downloaded memtest86 3.3 iso http://www.memtest86.com/ running as i type, Pass 64% no errors so far
(10) Have erd commander 2005 waiting in the wings
(11) LASTLY I do not have anyother Recovery CD's or XP on disc my pc came pe-installed, I dont mind reformmating (can I wipe HD and re-installed windows/xp??)
Sorry for the indepth posting it has got very fustrating but I have served my time in researching this problem... anymore help would be very much appreciated:rolleyes2

My problems are now sorted, even got to create recovery discs!!!
