Calling Geeky, fan alert!!

edited January 2004 in Hardware
Geeky, I know you love fans and I ran across a surplus site you'll just love. The name is The Surplus Center and they have some great deals on some case and blower fans. When I saw this fan I knew it had your name on it Geeky! You could use it to cool your rig and also make it fly. ;D

This blower fan looks interesting as it looks like it could be adapted to a Thermalright heatsink without too much problems.

And Geeky, here's a good base unit for a generator set for powering all those power-hungry fans you are going to buy! You can order at the same vendor where you buy the fans. Heck, they'll just put crates in a delivery truck for you - one of fans, the other with this engine. I'll be browsing for the generator half of the power pack.

    • One of our most unusual surplus buys. Originally built as a desktop soda fountain, we are selling the cooling system and other parts they contain. Use for custom built refrigerator compartments in mobile homes, wine coolers, electrical equipment cooling, etc.

    • Compressor has a 1/12 HP, 115 VAC motor, 3.2 amps. The wrap-around flexible cooling jacket is 33" x 8 1/2". In addition to the cooling components there are also solenoid valves, stirring motor, pump and other miscellaneous parts. Outer casing has been removed and the carbonation chamber disabled by the manufacturer to preclude use in original application. Size 16" x 13" x 20". Shpg. 44 lbs.

    Our Price $47.50

Cheaper than a Prometia methinks. Will cool your beer too.

    Not big enough:
    1/12 = ~0.08333333333333333
    0.08333333333333333 horsepower [electric] = 212.1214717 Btu/hour [I.T.]
    212.1214717 Btu/hour [I.T.] = 62.1666667 watt

So, even if it's 100% efficient, it couldn't even handle all stock Athlons or P4s.

AND, to cool that 62w load, it's pulling almost 400w.

There are much, much better ways to cool a CPU.
