--EDIT--
I do have a question about installing this when running in AHCI mode for my hard drives. Will I see any improvement over running in Native IDE mode?
It's done downloading, but it wont do anything at all, clicking, right-clicking, im lost >.<
//EDIT: Dhurr, I'm a retard, found it....I always have trouble burning OS discs....
Goodbye WinXP
I even got my extra memory today, bringing the total to 4 GB.
Had to do an RMA since I received a DOA Corsair Dominator 8500
BTW: Download is already 20 % complete yeah
EDIT: Btw the replacement module is using micron chips
But my other two sticks are Qimonda, but I guess it will be okay.
Anyway, I'm currently running Vista and want to install this over the top. Would I need to reinstall all of my software after or should I be good to go straight away?
Ok, well either way it's not really a problem just an inconvenience. The reason that I was a little confused over this was due to me not reading an email properly that I received from MS about the RC a week or so ago in which they said..
"Please note: All users of the Windows 7 Release Candidate (including Windows Vista users who have upgraded to the Release Candidate) must do a clean installation of Windows 7 RTM. Please keep this is mind as you consider downloading the Release Candidate as opposed to waiting for the general availability release."
I hadn't read it properly and assumed that Vista users who had not already 'upgraded' didn't have to do a fresh install. Oh well...
It was downloading pretty fast here as well.
850 Kb/S on a 10 Mbit ADSL, that is quite decent.
The dowload was completed in an hour plus a couple of minutes.
EDIT: And it is actually installed as well.
Quite an improvement, it is really fast and responsive and I can use all the memory.
I'll download it for you.
Ok, it seems Windows 7 RC1 loads slower with AHCI enabled compared to Beta 1 set to Native IDE, but I might be wrong.
I burned, I don't know it's mess up I know it will shut down every two hours and it will
soon stop working so I need to get it on another pc to try something.
So if someone has a copy they can send to me let me know thanks.
However in RC1 no problems yet on anything. I must say, I'm an OS X person at heart but Windows 7 is impressive and I'm certainly going to be installing it on any future machines at work or home (well future non-mac's that is).
Where windows 7 really seems to shine is that the UI is actually usefull and helpful in it's short cuts, it's more organic feeling if you will. They've also bundled some handy little tools that you probably never really used but had to get eventually. The snippit tool for screen caps is great. Their integration for mobile devices is awesome compared to active sync. It's all around just a well done and modern feeling OS.
It's certainly stable enough to run on most production equipment. However keep in mind that it is just a beta and it does have a shelf life. When it runs out you'll need some other OS to install.
The Snipping Tool and the Mobile Device Center worked perfectly in Vista, too.
snark, you seem to have forgotten. Nothing worked in vista. Bluescreens all the time. You need to remember that vista was basically dos 6.02.
