Ban Explicitly Sexual Sprays?

Any chance we can do this? "Oxidized Guacamole" was playing tonight, and had a spray that was a rear-end shot of a vagina+anal beads. (I have a screenshot if you want proof)

It really doesn't bug me personally that much, but we do have little kids who play on the server (blaze, ic fish, pajumajo, etc.), so for their sake...can we ban these sprays? I mean, warn them and such (like we do when people use the word gay pejoratively), but if they persist...yeah.

Think of the children and all that.

It's in the server info that these sprays are not tolerated and will be punsihed by a ban. Perhaps we need to police it closer?

I don't have RCON access, so I can't do it.

    Also, in b4 SHOW PROOF

Absolutely, they are banned. If any admin sees them, the player who sprayed it is to be kicked and banned without question or discussion if it's a random pub.

If it's someone we know, I ask them to change it. This has only come up one time with someone that I know, and he changed it immediately.

But yeah: pub? kick/ban, no discussion.

Allright, I just brought it up to some admins today while we were playing, and nothing was done, so I had assumed it wasn't a rule. Sorry. (Not trying to bash the admins either, :P)

Then I am shaking my finger crossly at those admins.

Admins should have any easy way to remove these sprays and ban the sprayer. Go to sourcemod menu (sm_menu) -> select option 2 -> while looking at the spray press the option for remove spray.

I usually just kick the person or give them a warning then ban if they come back and do it again. Should we just go right for the banhammer?

Yes, instant ban, no warning beyond the posted rules. This is abusive behavior, and we should have a zero tolerance policy.

    Meh, a warning is appropriate.

I think warnings are for people who do things by accident, like if they curse without thinking, and don't realise that it's a family server, stuff like that.

graphic and pornographic sprays are not an accident or a slip-up. Those people are doing with the express purpose of offending others. We don't need those people on our server, and there is no reason to "give them a chance".

Should we make a sticky thread for admins, especially new ones, so we have a collection of ideas/complaints/rules/guidelines. This is so we don't have threads for "can we drop this map" "this guy was doing something" "blah blah", we just end up with Admin guidelines and complaints and request to edit map pool.

Speaking of posted rules, unless something is wonky with my TF2 install, our splash page is coming up blank right now. I don't think the server rules are posted.

I've noticed this too Pete. Something with the way tf2 renders the page it sometimes doesn't show up. Gonna try to look for a solution.

Works fine for me. And sorry for not specifying, I meant Kick, not ban. Of course, if people keep it up, ban 'em, but kick 'em for starters, not ban. Anyways...yeah.

Well there is apparently an issue with the rules popping up so at this point I'd say we kick 'em the first offense. Once the page is fixed then its back swinging the banhmmer no questions.

Warning, then ban. Is there a place we can post people that have been warned? My theory... See a spray, check the "Warning Log" and see if the person has been warned. If not, add the person and then tell the guy he's been warned. If the guy has already been warned, ban. BOOM. Fair...

That's too much work for a person who's being purposely offensive. We don't owe them anything. Just Ban.

Yup, thats right, just sling the banhammer around all willynilly because you got offended by something. No warning, just ban the little shits huh? I can tell you right now that this approach will cause MORE problems. Give them a warning, if its not changed or they spray it again after a verbal AND written warning (sent through console), a temp ban is appropriate. If they come back after a temp ban, then sling the full banhammer at them.

I'm definitely with piggeh on this. In the past I've used the remove spray, which then gives a warning to the person from console, and most people been compliant with not putting it up again.

I'd be with pigflipper IF there was an efficient way to manage all that. There isn't. The Icrontic server is supposed to be a family friendly place. If someone sprays something that doesn't comply with the rules set down by the owner of the private server, just effing ban them. If they don't like it, they can feel free to contact someone to appeal the ban.

Ok, here is another problem I have: You can't have a "family friendly server" in a game that features throwing piss on people.

Hey, some parents are okay with their kids playing FPSes yet don't want them to see sexually explicit images. Get over it. The rules are the rules and the rules say you'll be banned if you break them. Period.

No discussion. They're banned. End of story. They're random pubs that don't reflect the kind of people we want representing our brand.

They can find another free server to play on. There are hundreds.

Prime: Yes, they are doing something against the terms for playing on the server...when the terms and conditions actually show up. Its a game and further more, a lot of these people don't know what they are doing is wrong and therefore it is up to society to let them know. But letting them know by way of the ban hammer doesn't teach them anything; they just get upset and refuse to have anything to do with Icrontic and limiting the user base in that way just doesn't make sense.

Now if they repeat, even once, hit them with the ban hammer, but don't just swing away with it from the get go.

I've also noticed a clear split on this issue: younger members are more tolerant, older members go right for the ban hammer.

I don't know what you consider "younger members." I'm 24 though and I'm fine with them being banned on first offense. Guess what, they do it to get a rise out of people because they know it's inappropriate. IMO that's not the kind of people that I would want regularly contributing here. If I wanted that kind of atmosphere I would have joined one of the hundreds of other popular forums that don't expect a certain level of conduct out of their members.

Thing is, we do see this from members who are playing, myself included, so where is that ban hammer again?
