    Hi Me Again!!

Just checking in to see when you might have time for this, no pressure, just want to be free when you are. Let me know. No worries!

    Hi Bobby,

    Is says 1.21 GB

I'm guessing that is not much. I am fine with deleting or moving programs or whatver to my external hard drive. Will that be a possible avenue to allow for more space?

    THanks,

    I'll talk to you tomorrow,

HEY, I'm getting confused where I should write to you!
NO PRESSURE, just let me know when you might be free, so I can be available. Hope you are well,

Hey Jewel, Good to see you back in the game. I'm going to be swamped today at work. I may not be able to get to you 'til tomorrow. For now I would like you to take the suggestions that kryyst and Thrax suggested above.

After all that go back into My Computer and please Report back your "Available Space" on the C: drive.

Yes 1.21 gigs left is critically low. Have you gone through the steps we've suggested to free up space? Also moving any downloaded music/movies to an external drive could free up lots of space.

OK, now I have 6.94 - any other suggestions as to what to delete or move? I have done all the other parts suggested though I did not go as far as to purchase that software, just rean the free part.

Excellent, almost 7 gigs free should help us get past the import.

Next step is to go into Outlook -> File -> Import

And point it to C:\Documents and Settings\Nancy Grace Horton\My Document Business\Outlook2.PST

Then let it run. That should bring all the email back into folders.

If I end up with some time I may be able to log in with LogMeIn to go through this tomorrow. I'll see what it's like tomorrow at the office and try to post an update on when we might be able to finish this up.

Hi Bobby, How are you doing today?
First, thank you for all the help you have given me. You must have the best Karma!!!

Obviously, I have been debilatated by my computer so I've had to get another one. Where I am now, thanks to your help, is I've transferred all the data from this computer to the other. Looks like most of my e-mails have moved and now I am trying to delete all that stuff off of this. The main thing I am searching for now are my contacts. I can't seem to find them and I can't delete all the stuff I transferred?
    Any thoughts on this?

Hi Jewel, I'm great, Hope all is going well for you to.

So from what I gather you have a new computer and you were successfully able to move your emails over but need to move your contacts?

It should be similar to the way you export the mail under File -> Export but it should give you an option for Contacts. Save the file, move to other computer and go to File -> Import to bring them back in.

If you can't find it from there, read through this here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=kb;en-us;Q287070

That was the best link I could find though its a bit overkill on info for what you need.

    Hope that helps,

How many contacts are we talking about?

Anything 30 or below, Email yourself, Print or write down the contact info from the old computer and manually enter it in the new computer.

More then 30, give me more information. When does it say that? Can you see your contacts and their information? Give me exactly what the error says and any other txt on the error box.

    Let me know,

    -Bobby

Hi Bobby, I have probably 300 + contacts.

    The error reads:

Unable to laod personal free/busy data. THe file c:\My Docuemnts Business\Outlook1pst has reached its maximum size. To redue tthe amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need then permanently delet them.

I've tried to delete and that error message reads: The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

I've tried that a few times and it does not work. when I open the address book the way it is now, nothing is in it?

try running the pst repair tool on it that may allow you to open it and export your contact list.

Microsoft provides the Inbox Repair Tool for correcting most problems with damaged Personal Folders .pst files. If you do not see the Inbox Repair Tool on the Start menu, under Programs | Accessories | System Tools, use Start | Find or Start | Search (depending on your operating system)to search your system for Scanpst.exe.
You will need to know the location of the .pst file that you want to repair.

This says the path is invalid for the particular file that is not working.

The you should be able to open your new working outlook and import just the contacts from your other .pst file.
  • edited March 2010
Perhaps that is true, but I can not delete or find my contacts,
any other suggestions, also if someone can get onto my computer, that will be so nice... Thank you.

    Hi Jewel,

Please understand that what I did for you and your Outlook with the LogMeIn was above and beyond what is normally done here. I had some free time at work so I fired it up. I will not have time like that again soon.

We need you to be very detailed about what is going on: lets concentrate on your old computer. You are saying that even after running the fix on the PST, you are unable to see your contacts? Were you able to transfer both of the PST files (Outlook1 & Outlook2) from your old computer?

Hi Bobby, You are very right, and I do very much appreciate what you have done.

    Yes they both moved.

I do not have any contact now and I can not delete the e-mails.

I just want the contact and I have the e-mail on the other computer. I also just want to be able to use outlook and I can't do anything.
Whatever ADDITIONAL help you can provide is greatly appreciated, and I understand if you do not have the time,

    Thank you for everything!!!

Ok, Sounds like there are two issues here we need to try and tackle:

1: you are not able to see the contacts on the old computer?

2: you are not able to delete messages that were successfully moved to the new computer? Or are you referring to the email on the old computer?

Next step in trying to find the contacts, lets serach for a PAB file:
Follow these steps to locate your Personal Address Book file:

    1. If you are running Windows Vista: Click Start.

If you are running Windows XP: Click Start, and then click Search.

If you are running Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98: Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.

If you are running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me): Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
    2. Type *.pab, and then press ENTER or click Find Now.

Then please post the addresses of any files it finds.

Make sure you are searching in the File Name for *.pab

this should only bring up files ending in .pab, we are looking for files probably in the same directories we were working in with the PST files.

    Nothing is coming up!

Perhaps it's time for me to give up on this... now I just want to delete everything so outlook can function... I think those directions are somewhere in this thread. You are very kind.
I can't thank you enough... I send you all good thoughts and all the luck in the world to you!!
