We're just so far behind it doesn't look like there's a point in catching up. I know it's a bit obnoxious, but this game needs a rubber band effect. Teams farther behind need everything cheap to balance things out.
Yeah, that's the problem at the moment. Unless you're playing right from the start and/or for many hours per day, there's simply no way to compete. Hopefully they'll try to balance that out somehow. It's a bit frustrating coming from the pitboss environment where you can play a turn once or twice a day and not have people scream out to a huge lead overnight. Here, it seems if you're not playing on the hour every hour, you're out of the running.
So are we in a Civ or not? I just checked the Aztecs and there's only one player as a member. If not that one, which one are we all joining? I only just logged in a few minutes ago since the "restart".
Well for the moment (just to complete the quest) I joined the Grecian one just because they were the largest. Egypt is fine with me too. I just think we should all join the same one.
I'm actually still trying to decide if I even want to continue playing this thing. It's not seeming particularly interesting to me at the moment.
If they address the balance issues and stop resetting it, it might be better. I keep trying to get some goal, almost accomplish it, and then I'm starting from scratch. I'm trying to actually make progress in the tech tree. I think I've researched a grand total of three techs in this game.
Dang, Rasteenboro was going to be a industrial powerhouse. Now I'm stuck with Rasteenburg. Have my own favorite tile configurations already, Like orchards next to two water tiles.
Hmm, I suppose I should try to check the official forum, since I never got any sort of confirmation...
Yeah, I understood that they were very close to releasing a new version of the game, meaning that playing in the current one was kind of pointless. In any event, I didn't log into this game for a day, and when I got back we'd jumped from near the start of the game to the Space Era. Pacing is all out of whack, I think. If we're expected to check in most hours of the day to have a fighting chance at keeping up, I'm not really interested. Have to agree with HAK at the moment, so far I'm just not feeling hooked to this game.
Orchard on water tiles are great. I'm also tempted to put pastures on plains, since they don't appear affected by the grassland/plains distinction (best if I can make a square of pastures).

I just agreed to it, like I do everything else. Even if something fishy was in it, precedence shows that those "click to continue" style contracts don't hold up in court.
Is anyone able to use thier civbucks in the new release?
When i try to buy more moves in the science puzzle to complete the quest it tried to open the buy more page. There was no way out of this page, except to click the play tab at the top.
You don't get any for free anymore. You must buy them. The display is confusing: Where it says 10/0, that means that you are allowed to use 10 more civbucks today, but that you have 0 civbucks.
Also, Did they pick up the pace of the game? I logged in this morning for just a bit and had 5 population already, then i logged in this afternoon and felt crazy far behind.
Wait a minute, they're now charging the Alpha Testers for Civbucks? Are they serious?
Yes. There's no way to test the system, unless they at some point make people pay real moneys. I think they should have waited until later in the testing, but so be it. I haven't bought any.

I just think it's a rather cheap to expect the people testing your game to give you real money while it's still in a broken alpha state. Maybe it's just me though. Oh well, their choice...

Sadly, this isn't true. At least, not in the United States. From what I saw, they apply New York law and New York jurisdiction (although I don't know how they can apply that part of the contract if the court refuses to enforce the contract).
Right, that's what I mean. Whenever these kinds of contracts have been challenged, the court has thrown it out on the grounds that no one can reasonably be expected to read every click to continue contract they are shown in the course of normal computer use.
Comments
BTW, if anyone has a boat that they want to stick in battle, it would be nice.

What's up right now is a buggy, frequently resetting, hard-to-log-into mess. I thought they had taken it down entirely.
They posted on the official boards (and I think sent out an e-mail) that they will let us know when the game is ready for testing again.
