This question should show how much I understand about the process but how do you manage to create a mold that doesn't melt instantly when you pour liquid metal into it?
I used a plaster / sand / water mixture that hardens around a plastic / foam part.
In the video, I burn out the plastic from the little disc shaped plaster mold, then I poured the aluminum in. You can see it when the lid is open and the fire is coming from the burning plastic. The white around it is the plaster / sand mix.
Someone asked me to print them a dick shaped cookie cutter. I was working on it and left my computer unattended for a period of time. Then we had company over... so @Linc took pics and shut off my monitor
Ryan, coolness aside my reaction to this video is continuously, "what an idiot!" He puts his head and hands through the beam of a 2 kW heat source and it's only luck that keeps him from getting roasted.

Think you could 3D print something like this?
Those lenses are sold out on Amazon now. :O
I think I could manage that quite well.
What about one of these, seems pretty simple:

I can do that one quite easily.
Any idea on a cost per?

Its done!
Ha, awesome. When I get some time to stop by the house, I'll check it out.

I actually thought the same thing. That beam would suck.
