That Kargath fight was a combination of perfect circumstances and some sort of zone I must have been in. I was within 700 DPS of my "expected" SimC average. That said, lolol I am awful at fights with movement.
I need to up my game! I'm just unable to get burning embers fast enough. Looking through various threads and guides I'm fairly certain it's because my gear itemization sucks. I have only a few pieces of gear with crit (my main secondary stat, which helps build burning embers). Even the fights where I'm paying the most attention to my rotation, I'm pulling crappy numbers... and it just gets worse on high movement fights :/
If you want, there's actually an expression editor in worldoflogs that AMR doesn't have... and since the expression editor can eke out info such as what proc you had at what time when you casted which (specific in time) ability, you can use it to actually count up the number of times you wasted a proc or something. AMR does something similar, but from an ability viewpoint, which makes it hard to count which procs expired.
I've been running logs on warcraftlogs for the raids we've been doing. A really cool feature is to check out the fight analysis tab as well as the replay function.
Just not feeling Destruction. Thinking of dabbling with Demonology. I know I'm not nailing the rotation perfectly (sometimes due to movement / mechanics) and I'm leaving out a ton of DPS by not being able to Havoc well... I'm determined to find a way to be more effective, though. Will read-up some more and play around with some dummies.
Looking at my percentage rating amongst other Shamans of my ilvl, I am perplexed as to how I cover 47 percentage points between me and the top.
I don't use the most powerful flask, but everything else that I do is perfect. My rotation is flawless, I am as ideally itemized as I can be given the current gear, I cleave when I s'posed ta.
FWIW: I am following a "non-standard" Shadow rotation to get upwards of 80-90 percentile. On fights with movement, I drop to 30-40 percentile.
I assume two things:
1) The standard rotation may not be optimal in all situations.
2) The top percentage folks may be missing out on mechanics in order to cheese their DPS. (IE: making healers work harder, avoiding movement, etc.)
#2 was something I had been considering. It may also be that the difference between me and the 80th percentile may only be 1-2K DPS, which can boil down to pure luck.

Looks like Ryan is right. Here's one of the "top" around your iLvl I can find on Warcraft logs for Enhancement shaman on H Kargath:

Probably doesn't help that warlocks suck right now.

Koragh is definitely a melee fight.
We have some very consistent healers (and performing at a high level).

It also is lumping in a large ilvl area: 663-669. So if you are on the bottom end of that spectrum, you simply will be lower.

Looks like a HUGE chunk of DPS on that fight is AOE based to the Iron Grunts / Iron Bombers up in the stands for that data set.
Looks like it. Up to 50% of their damage is coming from AOE. That explains a lot.
In pretty much every fight they're using AoE extensively. Even Koragh/Tectus/etc. where they hit 30k I think.
